2/3 Learning in Dobb's Classroom
Today in ELA we:
Discussed our next writing project - researching and comparing two things we are wondering about. Some of the examples students came up with so far: regular vs. organic eggs, one game system vs. another game system, one truck vs. another truck, etc. Students brainstormed research project ideas. They will need to find published research, paraphrase and cite sources. They cannot just rely on "their" knowledge/opinions.
Next, students worked on Literacy Bingo activities while I conferenced one-on-one with students on their writing.
HW: Students need to write 7+ complete sentences about their 3 day weekend, including a topic sentence to kick it off. Due at the start of the hour tomorrow.
Today in Math we:
Did a session of Xtra Math - feel free to have your student do so at home as well.
Turned in or finished multiplying fraction problems.
Worked on equivalent ratios using a No Bake cookie recipe - "baking" will occur tomorrow.
Today in Guided Studies we:
worked on Genetic Research Essays, quizzes and organized binders - I'm so pleased with how many are keeping their belong in order! Way to go!
